Do Not Require the Usual Egypt Holiday, Take an Adventure Holiday

The term Egypt holidays should not bring up thoughts of beaches and drinks with umbrellas or conjure images of sunburnt Brits showing off their white bits. There is so much more to an Egypt holiday and especially Egyptian activity holidays. Just a few hours away on a plane you’ll find an adventure wonderland suitable for the adventure tourist, the thrill seeker and the more adventurous family.Activity holidays are a fantastic way to get fit, see more of the destination you’re visiting and try something new. If you fancy an Egypt holiday but don’t want the usual Red Sea laze all day break then try a pre-planned trip which does a bit everything: visit the Sinai desert, explore the Pyramids and hundreds of other ancient monuments, sail the Nile in a traditional wooden felucca sail or camp out under the stars in the desert. Starting in the stunning Red Sea resort of Dahab head deep into the sea and learn to dive or snorkel as you meet the underwater world of Egypt. The Southern Oasis is remote and dotted with pristine coral and a colourful array of marine life.

From underwater pursuits those who can handle the hot Egypt sun should head inland to the desert. Taking a four-wheel drive head to the Nawamis Tombs, a structure that dates back to 4000BC which were found to contain beads, bracelets and tools of our ancient ancestors. Nearby you’ll discover the frozen dinosaur rock formation and the highest sand dune in the Sinai, the Hadaoudah. For those who love the outdoors camping here in the elements is a fabulous experience. Your Egypt holiday is not complete without an evening spent singing with local Bedouins, listening to folklore and myths of the desert. And if you don’t mind a bit of sand in your hair try sand boarding down the dunes.

An activity holiday doesn’t need to be all about constant action or adrenaline pumping activities. In Egypt your activity holiday can include days spent diving, afternoons wondering the many ancient wonders, such as the Valley of the Kings or taking a hot air balloon ride to see the spectacular Pyramids from the air. Opportunities to trek to the top of Mount Sinai should also be available again this summer but make sure you do the trek first thing to watch sunrise. Your Egypt holiday can be an adventure holiday if you make it so.
