Although our homes may still have bags filled with Halloween treats and costumes that have yet to be packed away, in a blink of an eye retailers have transformed their shelves from ghosts and goblins to Christmas trees and wreaths. Yes, once again the holiday season has arrived. Are you ready? Before you get caught up in the hustle and bustle of purchasing and wrapping gifts, decorating, parties, cooking, traveling, etc. do you ever take a moment to focus just on you and what would bring you more joy throughout the season?I love this quote by visionary Walt Disney, who once said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them”.
Although many of us dream for a white Christmas, we really have no control of Mother Nature. However, what if your holiday dream includes visions of a season filled with less stress, panic and anxiety. I have great news for you! You do have the power to take control of your season and make your holiday dreams come true. How you ask? The answer is to set aside some time to create your personal powerful vision of the perfect holiday season during a “Holiday Dream Exercise.”With paper and pen in hand, locate a quiet place to close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and slowly reflect and visualize what the perfect holiday season looks, smells, tastes and feels like to you.Here are just a few questions to ponder to help guide you during this session.What seasonal activities have you always wanted to partake in, but can never find the time to do.
Do you wish for a simpler Christmas with less traveling, shopping and cooking?
Do you wish you could find the time to helping those in need during the holidays?
Do you miss spending more quality time enjoying the season with your family?
What are some of your favorite holiday movies or music that you never seem to find the time to enjoy?
Bring out your inner child and think back to your favorite holiday meals or cookies you loved as a child. Would you love to relive that magic again by finding time to bake them yourself?
Think this is just a dream.
